Top Moments of 2009

2009 What a Year

So 2009 has basically past and lets be honest it has been a pretty sweet year for myself; First of all I finally finished 13 years of state schooling 5 of which were at the best college in New Zealand Wellington College. Anyways here are my top 5 moments of 2009:

All Whites Beating Bahrain at Westpac Stadium on the 14th November:
  • What a day, the All Whites played Bahrain infront of a capacity crowd at Westpac Stadium in Wellington, after the first leg ended 0-0 even though Bahrain Should have scored in the first leg (note pic)

Because of the crucial miss by Salman Isa in the first leg it came down to a do or die match at Wellingtons' Westpac stadium which I was lucky enough to attend and stand in the die hard fan zone White Noise. The game was one of the best 90 minutes of my life and was easily one of my best moments of the decade let alone 2009. The game ended 1-0 to New Zealand and we we're off to the Football World Cup in South Africa for the second time in New Zealand's history.

Mcevedy (Local Schools Athletics)

After Wellington College lost the shield in 2008, coming into the 2009 event We were seen as the underdogs, no hopers going into the event. As a school we packed the bank on the finishing line and as seniors we were chanting to give our athletes an extra push coming into the finishing line. By lunchtime we felt we had no chance of having the shield return to Wellington College and leave the school with it in our trophy cabinet but we were wrong after lunch we started to feel we could win the shield and we got louder. Once we took the lead we didn't look back and we won the shield back from our rivals St Pats town once all the events had finished we all stormed onto the track and celebrated the win with a haka.

Later I will post some more of my top moments.

Wellington What a city

What city in the world can seriously have 4 seasons in one day. Today when I woke up it was a beautiful 20+ degree day then by 6pm tonight it felt like we were having a winter rain storm. Oh how I love Wellington.
